Asus probe, power supply ?

I kept having the voltage meter pop up, esp around -5 and +12, redline variations. Pulled out my 300w p/s and switched it. Doing it less, but get this, switched it into a case with a BE6/ P3 600 and it won't boot, blacks out after the HP66 screen. Don't P3 consume less juice? What could cause this.

Mb is A7v, Duron 700 @950, 512 mb Micron CAS2
