Asus PC800E-DELUXE sata raid is FUBAR!!!!

Hi folks
I've installed 2 sata maxtor diamond under the intel raid controller, and now XP doesn´t see my other 2 drives. What a crap of board!!!
If i turn on in bios the auto detection of ide drives it surpasses the raid controller and simply wont boot, 'cause it's ide drive 1 and 2, and the raid drives are 3 and 4. I've paied 200? for this piece of junk and i already miss my A7V... I wonder thats why asus installed the promise controller in this board, 'cause they now that the ICH5R is just a crap controller that intel is forcing buyers to pay the extra 10?...
Is there any thread or reference to this issue toward solving this issue, or just stick with the promise controller wich it saids it's much slower than the ICH5R?
any help would be apreciated.
Merry christmas to all😉

Which drives do you want to boot to? BOTH the Intel and the Promise controllers can be RAID or not.

I'm guessing you;re booting to the Promise and after enabling the Itel it wont boot to the Promise? If this is correct, there is a setting where you enable the Intel controller that makes it bootable or not. Set it to NOT bootable and your system will continue to boot to the Promise controller.

You need to explain exactly what is going on. Do you have windows set up already on a RAID Array? If so, what controllers is your boot drive/s set up on?

Are you trying to add another array under Windows?

If you want to add two more drives to the other controller when you already have boot drives set up one one and XP loaded, you need to wait to install those until AFTER Windows is loaded... then install the SATA or RAID drivers in XP so it can see the controller.

I want to boot intel raid configuration. So it is. The problem is that the other 2 drives wich are not sata, are in ide controller, wich is not recognized by windows. If i turn the detection on in bios, the windows wont boot because those 2 drives are not bootable. and so the bios recognizes as ide 1 & 2.
Everything is o.k. Both Sata drives are configured as raid o and they boot fine, but only if i turn off the other 2 drives off in bios. The result is that i loose acess to those drives in windows. I will try to connect them to the promise controller to see if it works.
cheers

Check the boot order in your BIOS. Is the Intel controller first? If the IDE is first, that would be your problem.
