I have a system that recently died. It will not boot at all. It's a Asus P9X79. I get a 01 Q-code which doesn't mean much. I noticed that the diagnostic lights mentioned in the manual are not going through their full cycle... from CPU to RAM to video(I think) then to HD. My system lights up CPU and then it goes out and the blue LED for RAM comes on and stays on. I took out all 4 sticks and tried them one at a time. Results were always the same. What does this LED pattern mean?

Anyone have advice on what to do next? Is the mobo dead?

Remove all the memory, all add on cards, the drives try to boot. If not try the paper clip trick on the PS wiring.
If no go try a different PS. How old is it? If under warranty send it back to Asus. If It was mine I would not waste any time on it, Time for replacement system.

I would recommend trying one stick of ram at a time in each of the different ram slots. I see you did that. I'd try another power supply like RLGL said. Did you clear the CMOS first? Outside of that, I see a new system in your future. Unless you want to just buy a used/refurb board off of eBay for cheap.

Is there a "Mem OK" button on the motherboard? Did you try clearing the CMOS settings? Does your RAM require more than "default" 1.5V? I had a similar problem but it was because the memory was rated for 1.65V and only occasionally booted at 1.5V.
