Hello,

I need to choose the best setup for my new ASUS P8Z68-V Pro GEN3 new config. I have buy my kit for create a workstation for intensive image creation ( photoshop, Nuke, after effect, Avid ....). I'm not a gamer and I'm only work on this computer.
I'm use Win 7.

My setup I have : 2 SSD ( 1x ocz agility 120GB SATA III + 1x ocz vertex 60GB SATA III) and 4x SATA II 500GB that I use in RAID O for my data. One sata optical DVD.
What are the best config about my hard drive ?

My first config are OS on SSD (ocz agility 120GB SATA III) and SRT with my (ocz vertex 60GB SATA III) plug on sata III ( grey) on motherboard. The data are on intel SATA II on Raid 0.
DVD on Marvell.

I have follow the step ( SATA on RAID in BIOS + plug only one SSD + install WIN 7 on it + plug second SSD + install SRT soft , I don't have make any config on bios raid ctrl+I ). I see my two SSD on theSRT software but I can't have the accelerate option in software !!!! So at this time this config don't work and I don't have any issu at this time ( help are welcome !!..)

Plug my 4xsata 500G on system, see it on SRT software, make a RAID 0 with my 4 data drive and after I can acces to the accelerate option but only for my RAID of 4 disk never for my OS SSD !?
But I can figure if is a good config and it's not what I plan , because I have buy the second SSD for use it on SRT mode for the OS. But Can I use two SSD

I can also use the 120G SSD on AHCI mode for OS, and the second 60 SSD on AHCI for caching the software ( I sellect the target software by software ) and use my 4 sata II in RAID RAID. Because I don't know if it's efficient to have one SSD for OS and one for SRT, it's more clear when you have an mechanical hard drive for OS....

Or I can make a raid with my two SSD for OS ( but they don't have the same size.......) and choose this Raid for software cache.....

It's very confuse between the advantage of AHCI vs RAID mode.....

My last question are about my RAID data of 4xSATA II. What are the best option ?, make a RAID on BIOS and loose AHCI or make a RAID in WIN7 by disk manager or SRT software.
In past with P5Q, I have a very very better performance with a RAID in WIN7 ( and You keep data if you put hard drive on other system with WIN 7, but it's not a priority for me...)

So What you think ?

I'm not a very big specialist and I don't want tweak to much computer, just find the best config and use it !!!!

My other part for information.

ASUS P8Z68-V Pro GEN3
i7 2700
1x ocz agility 120GB SATA III
1x ocz vertex 60GB SATA III
4x SATA II 500GB
16 GB corsair 1600
Quadro 600
DVD on sata
ANTEC 650W
H80 corsair

Last Bios from ASUS ( 401)

Update :

I'm follow the procedure exactly and it won't work. Intel tool won't even show "Accelerate" tab when I have my 2 SSD on Intel 6Gbs ports.:mad:
I can acces to accelerate only when I plug my 4xSATA on 3GBs port.
So at this time I have create RAID with SRT software and my RAID 2Tb give me the same performance vs my OS SSD . So it's a good point because I need a very good speed from my data and the power of the cpu and the mobo are very very good compare to my last dual core..... and I don't want waste my time to tweak a computer but use it !!
Anyway if somebody can give me more info and show me a better way , I can intall my system later...

Thanks in advance
Gaël

Not sure what your asking... too many words in your post. Attention span is too short.

Ask a pointed question- you might get a better response.

Hmmm. Don't think I fully understand what your trying to say but it sounds like you are trying to accelerate your OS drive which is an SSD?
If so then that doesn't make sense. Your SSD is already fast enough and in fact (even if you could accelerate the primary SSD) you would be slowing it down! As the Vertex is slower than the Agility III anyway plus you have the overhead of the caching function as well.
So in short you should only be accelerating your spinners (The 4X SATA HDD) which is what you are already doing.
Sounds like you have it setup as good as its going to get.
Leave it as it is.

@ Mfusick : Sorry if I'm not clear but I have try to explain all the fact ... and my english are not very good to. They are lot of questions but when I read the forums on the net , lot of people have the same trouble about SSD / RAID / ISRT and configuration....

@machasm : You're right and thanks for your points. That seem pretty stupid to want accelerate one SSD but you can make RAID with SSD and it's a good way to maximize the I/O specialy with professional application in visual effect. And I try to help my system without a lot of deep computer configuration knowledge .
At this time accelerating my spinners Raid drive are a very nice option.

Thanks !
