Asus P8P67 EVO boot drive options limited to Marvell ports only??

Hi, I've just setup my new system with a Asus P8P67 Evo motherboard,Core I7 2600 and 3 x drives - WD Raptor (existing data), WD Green (existing data) and a new Mushkin Callisto SSD (for Win7 OS).

I've avoided connecting the drives to the blue "problematic" SATA 3Gbs ports
...BUT for some odd reason the Bios only indicates boot options for the CD drive and WD Raptor which are both connected to the Marvell 6Gbs ports. Under Boot Option Priorities (for Option 1 and Option 2) I can ONLY select drives connected to the Marvell (Navy Blue) ports :(

The other drives (WD Green and Mushkin SSD) on the Intel 6Gbs gray ports are visible and can select from the boot over-ride menu. System boots up fine if I select the Mushkin drive from the boot over-ride menu or if I plug the Mushkin into one of the Marvell ports (which is not ideal!)

If I restart the system and don't force select the Mushkin (OS) drive from the boot menu by pressing F8 it gives an error "Reboot and select proper boot device".

I've also updated the Bios to latest version 1205 but still can't select/set the drives on the Intel 6Gbs ports in the Bios boot priority options as boot drives..???

Maybe I'm missing something, any help to get this sorted asap will be greatly appreciated.

well, you missed the same thing I missed and wasted many hours over

If you go to the ASUS support forum, they have a FAQ that mentions ONLY ONE DRIVE OF EACH TYPE IS LISTED. So if you have 6 HDD on all Intel ports only one shows on EZ page - the one you picked for booting

The frist boot option = DVD
Second boot option = A hard drive
which HDD?
well if you scroll down in boot tab, at the bottom is BBS priorities
you click that and on next page YOU CAN PICK ORDER OF ALL 6
I never scrolled down and never saw that bottom option
As you add drives the SUB PAGE shows all new drives - nowhere else

bastids

Now thats just the start
We are not even talking about GPT drives, or 3TB GPT drives, or that mysterious bootmanger option - which iis why you get that setup message for certain drives
Or the ultimate Twilight Zone - entering the EFI shell.
Things i have learned after HOURS AND HOURS of screwing around!!!

Ah thanks Bankster55 just saw it too -> http://support.asus.com/faq/asus-fa...-09B1B1D45F38&model=P8P67 EVO&SLanguage=en-us

Greeeat..and I could have sworn I did scroll down all the way!!! Asus engineers in the infinite wisdom..wasted so much time on such a silly thing.

While you mentioned EFI shell...do you know how to change the disk number/order thats detected? Ie. want the boot drive to be disk 0 not disk 2? Even though it is physically connected to sata 6Gbs port number 1 it still shows as disk 2 no matter what port you plug the cable into? :\

forget the disk number
thats the order in which you loaded Win 7 and HDD
It means nothing
You cant change it
If you want Port 1 to be Disk 0
Load win 7 on it first, no other drives
And you can rename DSK0_VOL1 to DSK1_VOL1 in computer right click rename
But in diskmanager its still Disk 0
In diskpart its still Disk 0
Its how the HDD are brought online
