Asus P5W DH Deluxe

So, my plan for my new rig goes like this:
- buy Conroe-compatible motherboard (Asus P5W DH Deluxe) and a Pentium D 805 as soon as the motherboard is available
- overclock the snot out of that poor little processor
- upgrade to Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4GHz 4MB) once the supply and possible price gouging issues have passed

The key part of the above plan is when the motherboard will arrive at respectable online retailers (Newegg, TigerDirect). It's currently available for preorder from several etailers I've never heard of, but it hasn't shown up in the RTPE or Froogle. The motherboard is already up on the Asus website:
http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=248&model=1198&modelmenu=1

So...does anybody know when this motherboard will be available? Gary Key answered my question perfectly when I last asked it about AM2 RD580, maybe you're still there?

Thanks in advance. 🙂

How could you possibly list TigerDirect and newegg together. I will admit I havent dealt with Tiger in years so they may have improved but last time I used them they were horrible, newegg on the other hand has been amazing.

What the heck!? That's pretty expensive! The M2N32-SLI Deluxe WiFi Edition costs like $30 bucks less! I mean, what's up with that?

It's on Newegg, and this makes me VERY happy.
Just a last-minute check, the one on Newegg *is* Conroe compatible, I assume?

if all your stuff is tied up in customs and you need a monitor quick, TigerDirect has a purpose. they ship in Canada so you don't have to pay customs.

mine will also be here July 3rd. and your right newegg is already out of stock and has adjusted the price from $235 to $260. ZZF has it in stock for $280. I still say eWiz.com is a pretty good deal, even though their shipping is a bit pricey. It seems that newegg and ZZF are doing a bit of price goughing lately with anything Conroe related. what's really sad is they are bumping the price on the Intel x975XBX boards that are still rev. 302 (not supporting Conroe). shame on them. I love both newegg and ZZF, but MB prices have gotten out of hand lately (like the last year). you never used to see desktop MBs over like $175 (thinking back to the good ole' days of the P4C800-E deluxe). oh well, such is life. What do you think MBs cost to make now-a-days, $30-40?

Im quite confused here, boards coming from everywhere running conroe or not
Never even thought to check the DFI ones as it'll get worse 🙂

I'm wondering which one of these is THE BOARD.

ok we go
Asus P5WDG2-WS Extreme Intel 975X 160£ - black,yellow one
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiF 150£ - the orange wifi one
heck and we even got Intel Extreme D975bx-304 975X which i've never heard at all at 140£

They got like 5 new asus 775 boards, some of them are marked "OUT" and share the same looks with some others

I hope you can help me out

DUH

Heads Ups. This board is shipping with BIOS rev 0401 which is reported to not support Conroe. For Conroe you need 0502 or higher. That means you'll need to use a non Conroe socket 775 CPU to flash the BIOS.

That's no big deal if you have a "tide me over" CPU prior to Conroe but if you're expecting this board to POST with Conroe you may be in store for a surprise.

I can't believe ASUS did something this stupid.

NewEgg and ZZF are not above jacking up the price on new hard to get components. Most companies do it to an extent because they follow the market demand and supply. Thats why I like to give things a little bit of time for supply to get adequate and prices to be somewhat fair and stable. Plus the fact alot of manufacturers are sending out more unfinished products more often than they used to. Ever notice how more often we see, 'Lets get it out now and fix the problems later with a patch/flash/etc.," type mentality? Considering the chips dont get released for another 3-4 weeks, and there could be a supply problem with them at first, I think its worth the wait on these new mobos. till at least end of july. Thats what I'm doing anyway.

Will i need to water cool the chipset on this board in a lian li case where the board is upside down?
I have watercooling already setup so it will be no problem to add it to the loop

So,can some1 tell me all the boards that support and WILL BE supporting Conroe?

I know about the Intel one,the orange asus WIFI and what more?

Thanks!

Hmm. The ASUS P5W DH Deluxe webpage includes this in the specifications:
- LGA775 socket for Intel Core2 Duo, Core2 Extreme and next generation Mulit-Core CPU

They don't clearly mention if this support is "Out of the Box" or with future BIOS upgrades. This really might burn some people like you say.

Then again, who would buy this board today and just keep it lying around until their Core2 shipment arrives? People buying this board today will probably be installing a processor into it, right? But you are still right about 'misleading marketing'.

Good job with your find nonetheless.

FFG,
There are some pretty interesting motherboards coming up for Conroe from all manufacturers (That Gigabyte 965-chipset 6-Quad Mobo might be clever marketing but preliminary testing has shown it to be an INCREDIBLE performer). I think it is best to wait until the market is flooded with several great options than buy from one of the limited choices today. Your rig can last you a month or two more, right? :smile;

The P5W-DH Deluxe I received from eWIZ came with BIOS 0502 installed. So perhaps boards shipped to some locations will be Conroe compliant right out of the box.

Do you have a link for the preliminary results? I'm really interested in that board.

There you go. Sorry about the late response: didn't check back here for a while. Hope that helps: 360MHz FSB on a board with a promise for 400MHz when it does come out.
