Asus P5QD Turbo (BIOS 0301)
Intel Xeon X5355 @2.66GHz
Nvidia GeForce GT 640
DDR2 667MHz Apacer 2GB + 667MHz Kingston 1GB

Instead of these 2 RAMs, I'm trying to install 3x 4GB Kingston DDR2 800MHz at which point the computer starts behaving oddly. It sees 12GB at the start of booting, but when given the choice to:

1. boot from hdd - it shows BSOD for a second containing info on probability that the reason for failure is hardware change, than restarts and keeps this loop, or
2. boot from win 8.1 64bit installation CD - it starts reading the CD, but than it freezes

Clearing CMOS didn't help, do I need to configure BIOS manually?

Your memory may not be set correctly, especially motherboard are picky in timing and voltage.
I recommend you to check the motherboard's qualified vendor list to see if your memory is there, so
you know if it is compatibility problem or not. So, in the future, if you want to upgrade, you can use the ones in the QVL and you will avoid all the headaches.

After that, go to Kingston website and find the model # of the memory and check their timing.
You may have to set it timing manually to go to Windows.

Yes, this memory is on the mobo's qualified vendor list (KVR800D2N6/4G), but I cannot find the timings for it

Can you set it for a slower speed in the BIOS, get it to boot, and then run CPU-Z to see the available memory timings?
