Hey all,

I posted this on the ASUS forums but since they are less frequented than the Anandtech ones, I thought I would post here too.

I have just installed a new Asus P5N-D motherboard and everything seems to be working GREAT, except for the front panel audio jack. This jack worked fine an hour ago with the old board so I know thats not the problem.

I have reinstalled the Realtek Audio driver, told the software I am using headphones, and verified the connector was in the right plug and facing the right direction (several times). I still get nothing.

This wouldnt be a huge deal since the cord on my headphones is very very long, however the rear audio jack has a slight crackle, I believe from being too close to the CPU and getting radio interference.

Anyway, am I missing something on getting this front jack working?? The front panel USB ports and all buttons are working. Just not the jack.

Thanks.

Ok, it was a BIOS issue. It was set to HD audio. Changing it to AC97 (I think thats it) made it work.

HOWEVER... I am still getting the static using the front port. Its really quiet and disappears in the background when playing a game or listening to music, but when just sitting with my headphones on its really irritating. Anything I can do here?
