I built myself a mATX box around a real cheap Asus P5KPL-CM.
Now everything works fine except whenever I hibernate the comp it turns off and then starts back up in about a second. Its a mainboard issue as windows un-hibernates without any issues when it starts up. I have to hit the power button everytime I want the comp to stay off. Shutdown works fine though.

I already played with the bios, tried different hardware etc. Same thing happens when using sleep mode, the comp will wake up instantly after turning off.

Just wanted to know if anyone else is having a similar issue and possibly any fixes.
(btw don't say its a cheap board I know :p, besides this issue it works very well)

The only thing I can think of right now is: Are you sure you are not hitting the reset button on the computer? Since this is a new build, you might have the front panel buttons/cables/wires plugged into the motherboard wrong for the panel buttons to operate correctly. When you think you are hibernating you are really reseting the computer.

If this is way off...than can you provide somemore detail as to how you are puting the computer into hibernate mode? Through the software or hardware?

The front panel is wired properly. This is what happens:

- Hit hibernate in windows (software)
- Computer saves all stuff to HDD screen turns off
- Computer shuts off (This is where it should finish, as every other comp i have does)
- Computer starts up again. (POST)
- Resumes windows

Thats the problem the comp never actually shuts off after hibernating. When it starts up again I hit the power button during post. That way when I start it the next time it resumes.

Now it shuts down properly, so its odd why it can't turn off after hibernating.

Bumpage. So anyone has any idea?
I've moved it to my media center, so being able to hibernate would be real useful. (CPU, GFX ram etc are all different, yet same issue)

Got same kind of problem , always after shutting down the comp restarted.
This week solved by resetting BIOS-memory...
Worked for me

If you look at your event veiwer it will display the error and the cause of the issue, the issue is caused by the USB ports on the back of the motehrboard when something that uses a decent amount of power is plugged in like keyboard or mouse. I am currently waiting for ASUS to reply with a fix.
