Hey all, having some audio problems

Just installed Win7 x64 ultimate on my 2 year old system. Specs are

Asus P5k Deluxe mobo
Intel E6400 CPU

Asus apparently doesn't have any Win7 64 realtek audio drivers for this motherboard.

I google'd around and found some help by downloading the Vista 64 drivers and running the setup application in Vista compatibility mode.

I finally was able to run the installation program, and the Realtek drivers installed.

However, there is no sound EXCEPT when I plug in headphones. Sound works fine in there.

I am running a Logitech 6.1 surround setup. Windows knows when I unplug or plug in the speakers, but I get no sound. Headphones work perfect.

Any tips? Thanks

Had same ongoing problem on my Asus R1F tablet from XP to Vista, but when I went to 7 the ones from Realtek (2.39) gave me speakers. <fwiw>

I had this same issue. I don't have a link to the ones I used but I can tell you that you just need to find another ASUS motherboard with the same built-in sound card as yours.

If you search the ASUS forums (either directly or through Google) for your motherboard model you should be able to find someone else asking about this same thing. They may already have a link to a compatible sound driver.

So weird. Since my headphones plug into the jack below the Green Black Orange inputs that my surround system plugs into, I said what they hey and plugged the center speaker into the headphone in port, and now my surround works perfectly. The Center/Sub and surround ports are still plugged in as normal, I just moved the other one (Green I think) down to where i normally would plug in my headphones, and everything is kosher.

Strange, but at least it works!
