Hey everyone

Was hoping someone could help me out. Recently I set up a new PC with a P5B SE motherboard and a E8400 core 2 duo. I just cant get the machine to be stable, I get varying BSOD and I'm not sure what else I can change. I have 2gb of hyperx ddr2 kingston PC6400 ram which I have tried to remove one by one but still BSOD. I have also disabled all onboard stuff that I could like LAN card and audio card. On post my ram detects as pc 5300? Any ideas?? Thanks

I would update the motherboard bios to the latest version (Asus Update in Windows works fine for me.) Assuming you are trying to run the system at stock speeds, make sure all the bios settings are on Auto, and try to boot up with bios defaults loaded. If overclocking to 4.0 GHz you will probably need to up your cpu voltage to 1.3625v, the NB to 1.4v and the ram to 2.1v. It is important to ensure your ram timings are on Auto, or 5-5-5-15 or higher in the bios, while testing.

I have the bios at the latest version and am running everything Auto. I did look at the memory voltage but it will not allow me to raise it past 1.9v. I have also tried 5-5-5-15 with the same BSOD results. A friend mentioned my power supply as the potential problem. what do you think? I have a 550w coolermaster...Thanks again
