Asus P5B hotswap SATA Cage with Windows Vista

I built a machine around an Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard and have the Intel Sata Controller set to ACHI in bios with the correct driver in Windows Vista. When I want to rmove a drive from the front rack, I find no way in Vista to remove it. When I remove the physical drive, it remains in Vista until I reboot. Same if I add a drive.

I am using the red SATA connections and wonder if I should use the black ones or do I need to get an add-in card for true hot swapping of SATA drives?

The SATA rack uses a 4 pin molex, but the drive connects via the SATA power connection into the rack. Is this the problem and how do I get around it?

Thanks,

The thing confusing to me is that my Lian Li SATA Swap Cage (RH-48) only has the 4 pin molex connecter for power. Looking at Icy Dock's cage, they only use the 4-pin molex, yest both claim hot swap ability if the controller supports it.

Does this mean the Intel controller on the motherboard doesn't support hot swap of SATA drives? How about the JMicron controller? How about an expansion card - any recommendations?

Thanks,

It works on my AMD 64 machine, but not on the Intel machine. I think Intel must not support it. I am going to see what controller my AMD motherboard uses and find an expansion card with the same controller.
