Asus P5B-E release date?

Any reason not to get this board?
I don't plan on going dual video cards, and I hear this has raid 5 which is what I need, and I plan to get a 6300 or 6400 and a 7900gt. I'd think this board would be perfect for what I need but am I wrong on this?

Anybody have any idea on the pricing?

Depends on what the demand will be. 😉 MSRP is suppose to be around $149 but not confirmed yet.

with asus p5b already around the $150, i'd expect the p5b-e to be sub $130.

It should be around the $125 mark but it depends upon demand and supply at the beginning so I would not be surprised if sites are charging the MSRP on this board up front.

I see no reason this will not be able to go over the decent 2.1 vdimm
within the first few BIOS updates..

These should all be released with the C2 965express perversion 🙂

ZZF for $129

If ZZF allows ordering when item is out of stock, i'd recommend jumping on that price.

I suspect the price will surge when retailer notice how fast they are selling, & you'll see $180 P5B-Es in no time.
Just a feeling anyway.

I heard that it will later support higher memory voltage up to 2.4V. Bios update or a hw reversion?

Could be both. I have been on the phone with Asus Taiwan all weekend long to see if we can get a bios revision to go up to 2.2V (should allow some higher end DDR2-800 to reach DDR2-1066 for over 500FSB OC), looking at the components I think a board spin will be required for 2.4V.

Do you guys think I should wait for the P5B-E?
I'm about to upgrade my computer and was going to get the DS3 but if the P5B-E is coming out w/in a wk or so I might just wait....
I was also thinking about getting the P5B Deluxe non wifi for the Raid 5.
Ahhhh, so many choices. Decisions decisions.

I'm in the same boat... Want to jump into Conroe now but don't know whether to get the DS3 or wait for the P5B-E

What exactly is the drawback to vdimm limit of 2.1v... What is the limit in the DS3? What do I need to know when buying RAM?

According to AndreYang over at xtreme who tested the mobo, 2.4v will be available in revisin 1.02G (this is 1.01G) hardware revision sometime in october. Sucks cuz I would want one now.

I have had the board for a week, should have a preview up this week. Asus is still not decided on what direction they will take. Just so everyone knows, there will be C1 revisions up front and then a switchover to C2 on the P965.

I think the p5b-e is a good board to get as it does high fsb and is excellent value. This be a good board to put you on give you good performance and save some money till the rd600 comes out.

talking of upgrading it be good idea to wait if you can till the end of the year for anybody who wants to goto conroe who hasnt to see what the market will do and what will be the best board for them. thats why buying the p5b-e is good buy as it lot less price.

So the first batch will C1 and later they change to C2 and then to 2.4V? $160 isn't cheap. S3 sounds better now until later mobo.
