Asus P4T-E and XP?

Notright

Junior Member
I recently upgraded from an Asus CUSL-C MB to a P4T-E MB witha 2ghz northwood and now the windows instrumentation doesn't work.

If I go into properties on the My computer Icon it can't figure out what processor I am using. Also the System Information tool doesn't work at all..

any ideas?

Intel's site said that no new .INF file is needed for i850 chipset and XP to work.

You should have the .inf file on your mobo cd package
i think the best you could do is back up your data and reinstall the XP

Only thing on the CD is an INF installer from Intel which only goes up to 2000 and as I mentioned, on intel's site the docs for the i850 chipset say XP comes with support for i850. Which I think is true since in the devices section the i850 is mentioned and the agp bridge etc.. show up. Just nothing on the System Information program or anything else I guess that uses WMI.

I just swapped out the board.

Guess I'll try re-installing.. did you have to wipe your XP install or was installing over the top ok?
