Asus P4S800 problems

I built a system a while ago for a friend with the Asus P4S800. The CD will not appear in XP anymore, and his USB mouse no longer works (must use ps/2).

I read up on how some systems the secondary IDE wouldn't function if they used the case USB connections (from mobo, not back), but the opinion was people were putting the connectors on wrong (which I didn't).

I'm guessing that these 2 problems are related, but his USB mouse was connected to the back, not the case USB. Anyone have any info or links related to this? Asus forums are down, so no luck there. I'm going over to his and will remove the case USB connections to see if that makes any difference, but I'm really interested in finding out why these problems occur.

Don't know if you're overclocking, but I would try the default settings. If no change, then request an online rma from asus.

Yep, just removed the front USB connectors, rebooted, and both CD and USB mouse worked perfect... strange. I did check the manual and they were connected to the correct pins.
