ASUS P4G8X - Will not always boot...

I have a P4G8X motherboard with an Intel 2Ghz CPU, 512MB of RAM, and ASUS TI4200 AGP. I am not currently overclocking the system. When the board boots, it works flawlessly for hours and days on end. It is fast and never locks or seems to have a heating issue. The only reason I turn the PC off is because I have children who like to play on the system when no one is looking. It takes about 6 to 7 tries before I can get the PC started though. I have to turn on the PC, turn it off, wait, then do the process until the PC boots. I hear the drives spin, the power lights come on and you notice the monitor "click" when the power button is on. The monitor light stays orange when the system is not going to boot. If the boot is going to be successful, the light immediately turns green. I have a POST card in the PC to determine what the problem is, but when the PC does not boot; the POST display only shows FF - which means Boot OS in the post error message guide. I am guessing I have faulty power, but the POST card does not seem to reflect any power issues.

I am going to buy a new power supply to see if that solves the problem, any suggestions? The one I currently have is 400 watt rated, and I only have a hard drive and cd-rom attached to the PC.

Does anyone have any insight?

You know, I had the same problem...Ive a 460w PS though and I fixed the problem by turning off all the power saving stuff on the monitor.

Sam problem...working fine...playing games....then reboot intentionally and the monitor doesnt display.
Light on monitor turns green to orange and no display.....I hooked up a PCI video card and the 2nd display works when the primary display didnt.
I also upped the AGP voltage from 1.5 to 1.6v in BIOS

I had the same problem on my P4B533-V .Changed the ps ...no help, someone suggested using a grounded outlet (my outlets were of the 60's vintage where they used the neutral side as a common ground) so I sank a copper rod outside and ran a wire to the ground lug of a 3 prong outlet, and that solved the problem.Sometimes the the problem isn't the norm.

1) Try a different PS
2) ground outlet
3)RMA mb

I had switched PS units..went from an Enermax 431w to a Vantec 460w..still had the problem.
Im in an older, converted 2 family house...could be the wiring was done on a Friday night by an electrician friend...

I changed the voltage for the video and it boots more often now. I am going to work with some of the other settings and see what happens.
