I recently ran into an issue where I could run individual sticks at 182 and pass 2 hours of Memtest, but as soon as I put in 2 sticks it failed in 5 minutes. Thoughts? Bad board? Bad/Incompatible memory?

Self

PS-I used 2x512 Corsair 3200c2, and 2X512 Kingston HyperX PC3000

yep all sticks, both slots. Funny thing is that when I first installed it a couple weeks ago, the Corsair sticks would pass 10 loops of Memtest @182. I got the HyperX stuff to try yesterday and it failed at that FSB, so I put the Corsair back it and all of sudden it's failling too. Northbridge too warm? Board gone bad?<shrugs>

Thugs

I noticed that you said that you have both of the 12v plugged into the board.

Does this just insure that the voltage to the board maintains
or what?

Been running mine with just the main 12v connector, just curious. 🙂

ive been using all 3 plugs since back in my p4b266-c days....

not sure if it makes a diff on this board or not, but ill leave it like this just the same 🙂

Thugs:

I'm buying now, would like to get the exact same memory spec's you did 🙂

Can you tell me the corsair part numbers you used. I know its the xms 3000, but don't know if you used twinex, Low latency, etc.. Heck, I can't even fid xms 3000 on their site anymore...

im using old white labeled xms3000 ~ basicaly its 6ns pc2700 ~ cant get that stuff anymore tho.

if i were to buy now, id probably go for the xms2700 or samsung

Well that explains the challenges in finding it. It does still seem to be out there in retail channels if I look hard enough.

I do note they state the spd configs for that memory, and the xms 3200 are the same, while PJ's 3500 is set different.

I've not checked out the samsung config yet. Guess I better.

Thanks.

i wouldnt be surprised one bit if the "lower end" ram ran just fine on granite bay.
right now (on a 2.0A @ 3.0g) im only running 150:300ddr so i probably dont even need the xms3000.

lower end ram hasnt exactly been tested by anyone here yet ~ but im finding it difficult to suggest high end ram on granite bay if youre not gonna run/OC that high.

xms2700 should get you to 166:333ddr cas222 easily ~ and probably a bit further.

🙂

got my board in...one quick question...don't have a floppy installed, and don't want one...is there any way to flash this bios from CD or will i have to go for floppy?. Thanks.

alrighty...got xp up (after it tried to eat the good ol radeon ddr 64 a few times)...this 2.66 will do 160fsb (3200) no sweat, but when i throw a few settings around, XP gives me a STOP error...trying to figure out what setting is doing it...suspicion is that it's something with the ram settings...either the infinite or the turbo, diving in now.

EDIT: ...ok, this is strange...i boot in at normal settings (133fsb...blah blah blah) everythings fine...up the fsb to 155 and i get a blue screen STOP error from XP that says PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA anyone?.

Just got my 3rd P4G8X and this one appears to be the one. My RAM that wasn't stable in any configuration on my last board is now humming along at 182. Thank God I could find this board locally at a good price. 😀

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
and says the logon process has terminated unexpectedly and system has shut down...i'm at a loss here...what's goin on?.
