Thugs...NO, Thank You !!! Glad to get good advice at the expense of having fun! I kinda wish now I had waited for the P4G8X. I ordered the SINXP and it should be here in a day or 2. I ordered it through NewEgg under their return policy..."Can only be exchanged for exact item." Do you(or anyone else) know if this can be "gotten around"? Suppose I'm not happy with the SINXP and want to upgrade to the P4G8X...I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it...more then likely I'll have to hash that out with NewEgg, was just wondering if anyone else had returned anything to NewEgg under the same return policy...I guess I could refuse delivery huh? LOL !! Thanks again Thugs for your time to post your review of the P4G8X.

🙂

im seeing about a 0.07v flux max in all my testing.
same as a p4b533.
Nope for real 0.08v was the most that it dropped.
Probably that cra**y PP412X PS. I get some pretty wide variations.

I guess if I would go ahead and get a better one.
I could overclock better. 😉

So which one should I buy, my finger is on the button.
ENERMAX EG465P-VE(FMA) . . . . $91
ANTEC TRUE 480 . . . . . . . . . . . . $91

hmmm, i just realized that fastwrites is enabled by default......

lets see what happens if i disable it.
(ill have to edit my vid card bios for this)

haha I read half the thread thugs its huge...

Im awaiting sis 655 ocing results of over 180fsb before I jump on anything

hey Thugs I have a slight problem with my P4G8X-D board.

When it boots up it has the message that says do i want to configure my SATA RAID setup but I don't have any SATA HD so I don't need it. I don't have the SATA cables plugged in to the motherboard as I don't need it.

I disabled the SATA stuff in the bios but it still came up when I next booted. My pc would boot up a few seconds faster if this thing was just ignored.

How can you get this thing to be ignored?

I can only OC my P2.4G to 2.7 so far but at 2.8 in Q3 with OC Ti4200 128mb DDR Asus one it crashes 🙁 Surely I can reach 3GHz? I have 4 case fans but using the real HSF setup. Can't remember cpu and mobo temps as I'm at home and my pc is at Uni halls.

Holy Smack 340Mhz - That's humiliating and humbling
What is that you have running at a 1.75 multiplier 🙂
340/195=1.7436

I should have put the quote marks in, my bad 😱 that's was from Thugs results with the P4 1.7 mobile CPU. And your right! it is humbling. I was just oohing and ahhing about it that's all 🙂

340mhz ~ lol 😀
he meant 2340mhz 😕 hehe
actually even that number is pretty funny 😉

anyways ~ yea im getting some rather high unbuffered scores from this ram for some reason.

Any theories? Think it's just XMS3000 or maybe your particular rev of XMS3000? 🙂

Any word on the fastwrite tests yet? 🙂

Hi,

I got some problems with the integrated audio CODEC. It doesn't work when I pushed up the FSB to 150Mhz. However, it's fine at 145Mhz. Anyone has same problem? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The Vcore fluctuations I'm seeing on my P4G8X-D are worrying me 🙁
Idle, it is at ~1.600 to 1.616, but under load with UD crunching and Prime95, it can drop to 1.488V :Q

System is stable though, so I hope it's nothing. I'm running a 3.06GHz HT P4 at 3.22GHz default voltage (1.550V). I may increase the FSB a little more once I take my Crucial PC2100 RAM out - it's holding me back with these limited DIMM voltage adjustments. I've got 2 * 512MB TwinMOS PC3200 sticks and 2 * 256MB Crucial PC2100 sticks in there, for 1.5GB total.

Edit - Forgot to say, I'm using an Enermax 550W PSU. All voltage rails are solid - 12.20V, 5.08V, and 3.34V.

try also using the 3rd molex power plug on the board.

most onboard sound fails @ 150fsb ~ try changing the agp lock to 68/34.

Mikki ~ either the reading is wrong or i just cant turn it off.
it might already be off but reading as on.
still working on it 😉

THx,THUGSROOK,

The onboard sound is working now, even at 67/33. Could you explain it a little bit? Just curious about it.

Yozza ~ are you running alot of lights or fans? a baybus maybe?

zjpku ~ agp/pci lock auto doesnt work too well. sometimes even locked 66/33 doesnt work right. just bumping it up a notch or 2 usually finds one that works 🙂

My system is heavily loaded, but that shouldn't be an issue with the 550W Enermax. Voltage rails are all very healthy. I have 6 HDDs, 3 Optical drives, 4-5 fans on DigiDoc5, etc. The Enermax seems very comfortable with the load. It's only the Asus' VCore output that sags and fluctuates when the CPU is put to 100% utilization.

Nice Job
It's definitely a must read for owners of P4G8X, but the guide seem abit stretch out.
I know it's so much to ask, but maybe someone can rearrange all the bits and peices
into one complete thread. A much easier read 🙁 and maybe we can ask the mod to make it sticky too
