Herbage11, I originally ordered the P4S333. When I received this board it had an IDE port that would not work. I RMA'ed it and ordered the P4B266-C. I am not the only one that has had this problem with the IDE ports, however if you get one that does not have a bad port then it should be as good or better than the P4B266-C!!! Just my opinon!!!

hello,

i have try out almost all the P4 Mobo....

my suggestion is i845DDR chipset , if u want a stable and fast platform

actually if u equip the sis645 with PC2700, it seems faster, but intel has its own ""Intel application accelerator""

while SIS645 have no driver or performance-booster on ATA100....

the price is just little difference, so be considered

my suggestion is to buy EPOX 4BDA(i845ddr) or Asus P4B-266-C

Just a note. I was thinking I would not get the P4B266-c and getting the regular P4B266 because I want the USB 2.0 and I heard I need it for my optical mouse to work. Is this right? I may have to consider that IDE port also into this...thanks again all

From what I hear, this is only with the microsoft optical mice. Anyone care to verify this for me? Also, at what FSB is this "USB issue" appearing. Is it at 133FSB or above that.

My 1.6a/Asus P4S333 is still running strong.....(138x16=2208mhz)..bumped it down a bit from 144x16 because after 14hrs of listening to streaming music on www.digitallyimported.com I got a BSOD (in XP) about irq_not_less_then_equal..or something like that..havent had one since though...10hrs streaming so far....
Also dropped the voltage down to 1.55 from 1.575

Awesome...thanks for the update dbwillis. I may save some $ and go w/ the P4S333..that is a good overclock (plenty for me) so that my be the economical way to go for a real simlar performer to the P4B266.

Im not sure if the BSOD was related to a Sound and/or video driver problem..I was listening to the streaming music using Media Player in full screen mode, running a Nvidia GeForce 2 Ti with the 27.30 drivers..no other problems at all though

The P4S333 looks good to me. I'll be picking it up along with a 1.8A and some Crucial PC2100
on Friday.

okay, got my AS3 on, and everything set up, it's restoring windows XP now. The first thing I noticed when I turned it on was it was QUIET. Even with my case open, it's not all that loud (I used to have a slot-A Athlon 800 w/ 2 CPU fans). It's running stock now, I just upped the mem timings. I'll take it up to 133 after windows is up.

My southbridge also says this:
SiS 961
PLA 5544
0150 EA A2 (the A2 is in small letters)

Does this mean it's the A2 revision of the 645 chipset? I thought I saw somewhere there was an A2 revision that was better. Anyone know anything about this? I tried taking the HS off the Northbridge but that damn thing was on there good, I didn't want to break the plastic pins (or the motherboard).

Sorry, I had to go to class, just got back and it ran Prime95 for 5 hrs at 2.4 GHz (150 FSB) on my P4S333 at stock voltage. I got it to boot at 2.5 GHz, but it wasn't stable, probably could do it if I wanted to raise the voltage, but my temps under load at 2.4 is 49C. I'm happy with 2.4, that's all I wanted so I think I'll stay here (at least for a little while). Here's my specs:

1.6A (Costa Rica) @ 2.4 GHZ (from NewEgg)
P4S33 @ 150 FSB (also NewEgg)
256 MB Crucial PC2100

Oh, I also thought I'd let you know I'm using a USB Microsoft Optical mouse with no problems (not even at 156 FSB - the mouse worked, just Windows wasn't stable)

I am going through the same decision right now. I see that Googlegear has a note on the P4B266 description that says, "Note* This board will only accept AGP cards operating at 1.5V that comply with the AGP 2.0 specification." I can't find info any info that tells me if my Asus 7100 GeForce2 MX card is AGP2.0 compliant. If not, this will add significant cost to the P4B266 option, since I'll have to upgrade my video card. The P4S333 doesn't have this warning.

Can anyone advise the best way to know if I can use my card with the P4B266? Thanks.

your card supports AGP 4x, which, if I read correctly, means that is supports 1.5 V operation.

WheelsCSM-
What ratio is your DDR at? I ask because I had mine at 150x16 but had the DDR at 4:3 so it was a bit underclocked..even though the 3dmark2001 came out higher than 144x16 (1:1 ratio)
Are you using 1 stick or 2? I was using (2) 256mb sticks of Crucial

I'm running my ram on full auto right now. I just wanted to see if it could I could get my CPU to 2.4 GHz. I haven't had much time to mess with timings yet, maybe later tonight. I'm using one stick of Crucial PC2100. I know it won't do 150 @1:1 CAS2 (all the fastest settings) so I may have to turn it back down like you did. I had the mem on fastest when I first tried 150 and it didn't POST, so I just set the mem back to auto to see if I could even do it. I've been so excited about being at 2.4 guess I just haven't worried about mem timings yet =) Maybe I should have bought PC2700 after all, just didn't feel like spending the extra $$$. I'll let you know what I come up with.
