I've got a slot1 P3-850 w/pc100 and want to upgrade my board. I've been told the P3B-F would be a good board except when i check the specs on the board it shows jumper settings only up to 600mg.
What do i do?

You can ignore the jumper settings because the CPU speed can be set by software inside the BIOS. Always make sure that you have the latest BIOS version though.

The P3B-F should be able to handle any 100MHz FSB P3 processor....and with a bit of luck, can do 133MHz FSB CPUs as well.

The Asus P3B-F is one of 4 MB's that I currently use.

(1) The Asus P3B-F has a maximum multipler of 8 and supports the following FSB: 66/75/83/100/103/105/110/112/115/120/124/133/140/150. It will work well with any celeron 2 or Pentium III up to 1200 MHz.

(2) You need to get the latest BIOS from Asus ftp site in Germany. I am using verion 1.07 Beta 1 in my system.

(3) The performance of the Asus P3B-F is among the best of the BX boards. I run a Pentium III 700E at 7 x 140 MHz (980). I used Apacer/Infineon PC133 7.5 ns SDRAM at CAS2. The system is very stable.

(4) The Asus P3B-F is a very good, but not the best BX board for overclocking. It is limited to 150 MHz FSB and has nothing between 140 and 150.

(5) It lacks ATA-66/100 support. I have an all SCSI system and is not bothered by the lack of ATA. If you use EIDE drive, you may want to consider the new Asus cusl2 MB using the i815E chip set.

Actually, the P3B-F has a cpu multiplier of 8.5

I use it to run a Celeron II 566 at 850.

Thermite:

Hey thanks for the info regarding the beta BIOS. I've been trying to figure out how to get this engineering sample working at the 10x multiplier, since it didn't exist. I'm going to give this BIOS a shot!

Well, I ran the BIOS update and nothing significant was different. The only thing I noticed with this release was its recognition of the new CPUID of this CPU - 00686.

The Asus P3B-F motherboard is very stable, me thinks

If anybody is wondering, the asus support cd is from a A7V motherboard. The Asus support cd that came with my P3B-F is much older so i took that cd instead:):)

Oh I totally agree it's a stable board. I haven't had an ounce of trouble with it. I'm running a chip at 133mhz * 8.0 right now.
