ASUS: "Overclocking Failed"

A friend of mine just called to tell me he's having troubles with a new BenQ DVD writer. Windows doesn't detect the device. Over the phone, I asked him to remove the drive, and check the jumper was in the right place. He said it was on "slave." I told him to switch it to "master."

He booted up his PC and then ended up with the "Overclocking Failed" message. He hit enter to enter set up, but the machine freezes. I asked him to remove the drive, but the problem persists.

The PC refuses to boot.

What the hell is going on?

go over there and look for yourself. I usualy set the drives to cable select and let the IDE cable decide.

I;ve had it happen if i turn off the computer at the wrong time during boot up i usually have to do the clear cmos and reset my setting then all should be fine

I had this error couple days ago, i put the keyboard ps2 cable in the mouse port, i switched them around and voila.
