So I've had nothing but trouble with this card from the beginning. Here's some history. From day one, if I used the front panel audio, it would get interference from the graphics card because of the poorly shielded cable (shielding it with duct tape and aluminum foil did not help. The microphone in the front panel worked fine though.
Then I start getting really strange noise on my microphone almost 2 years later. I get a new mic and the problem persists. So I discover that it's just the front panel, suddenly getting weird noise and interference (also from graphics card *shock*).
Fine, I plug the mic into the back panel, straight into the SoundMax card and all is good in the world again for a day or two. Then the rear panel mic stops working! If I tap the mic while it's connected while I have the mic playing out my speakers (for debugging) I can hear it picking up the sort of interference or whatever from that, but it doesn't record anything from the mic itself.
So now I can't use the front mic because of MASSIVE interference, and I can't use the rear one because it doesn't work.
I tried swapping out the HD AUDIO connector for the '97 standard one (for the front panel, just to see if it changed anything), and disabling / enabling HD AUDIO from the BIOS, but nothing.
Anyone have any other suggestions for what I can try? I'd settle for figuring out how to stop the interference for the front panel since that's where I would rather plug my mic into anyway, but seeing as how I already tried shielding it and moving the cable around the case, I doubt that will happen.
