Need quick help on setting up Raid 0 for 2 x 1TB drives to make storage volume using Win 7.

- Asus M4A88TD-V EVO mobo, Samsung Spinpoint 1 TB drives for RAID
- Ports 1 - 4 setup as AHCI in Bios
- Port 1 has Sata6 SSD as system drive
- Port 2 & 3 has Sata3 IDE drives for RAID0 storage
- Port 5 has Sata3 drive for additional storage

Since Ports 1-4 are set to AHCI in the BIOS, do I simply configure the RAID 0 storage volume in Win 7/Disk Management - New Striped Volume?

Or should I be moving the RAID drives to Port 5 and 6 and setting the RAID up through the BIOS?

Any input?
Software raid 0 in Win 7 or hardware raid off the Asus mobo?

instead of 1-4 being set to AHCI, set them to RAID. go in to the RAID BIOS and stripe the 2 drives together, leaving the other 2 alone. AHCI is enabled by default when you set to RAID by all other single drives.

So the SSD (system drive) on 1 won't be affected in terms of performance?

Advantages of the Hardware Raid over Win 7 software? Speed, Stability?

I went ahead and used Win 7 to create a 'striped volume' but can easily change up if it makes sense.
