I have the4 Gigabyte version & like it !

Not sure about this version ...

wow thats pretty cheap. i've got the foxconn version of it, and its a pretty decent chipset to start a basic system with especially with how cheap AMD cpus are now.

Using this motherboard, what's the lowest priced cpu that will be able to play blu ray and downloaded 1080p movies?

silent pc review had done a comparison of what the lowest for blu-ray would be , and i think basically any amd dual core can do it in 1080p at the stock speeds. so i guess the slowest would be the 3600+ x2. you might wnat to check silentpcreview.com

they said a 4850e underclocked to 1.5ghz I think could just barely do it, but i am not 100% sure if i am remembering that correctly.

How does this chipset compare to the AMD 740G and nForce 430 chipsets? Would a Sempron LE-1250 work fine in this? I haven't kept up with AMD since the S754 days 😛

its better than the 430.

the 740g is just the 690g.

basically the 780g and 740g are pin compatible.

the 740g has i think a 4pipe version of the radeon x700 onboard, with some HD decoding.

the 780g uses a 40 shader version of the 3450 radeon core, with HD decode, avivo, and UVB so its better for decoding. it uses more power than a 740g though, i think its slightly less power use than a 690g still though.
