Hi, I currently have a Abit KN8 Ultra mobo and an AMD 4600 cpu. I'd like to keep my box and upgrade the mobo, cpu, and memory. Any thoughts on installing the Asus L1N64-SLI WS into my tower with 2 64 FX-74 cpu's. As I understand, sometime next year, the 4x4 quad processors will be out and the two dual cores can be replaced with the two quad core into this board, correct.

Also, I still use XP and I assume this board works with XP even though it is 'certified for windows vista?'

thanks in advance for any assistance,

Thanks for the update. Another question, what about sticking with the Asus L1N64-SLI WS and the 2 64 FX-74 cpu's? I can get the two cpu's and the mobo for about $800.

That is way too much money. You can buy a quad core Core 2 Quad E6600 plus motherboard for much less. Less heat, lower cost and better upgrade path (assuming you buy a motherboard which supports Penryn, Yorkfield or Wolfdale).

I hear what you are saying, but what about the $300 Asus board that allows for TWO FX-74 CPS'(dual core) vs. a board that only accepts a single dual core cpu?

No, you can buy a quad core Intel processor. The Core 2 Quad E6600 that I was referring to previously is a quad core (four cores) and it gives about the same performance (or much better if you overclock it) to the AMD FX-74. In addition, it is more future proof if you get a motherboard which supports Intel's newest processors than the Asus motherboard since AMD is abandoning the enthusiast 8 core (dual quad core Phenom) project.
