I built the March, 2004 "Cutting Edge" system with the Asus K8V motherboard. What preplexed me is that it had only 3 RAM slots instead of 4. Also, two of them are color yellow and one blue (not sure why). I want to know what the best possible configuration (without comprimising speed) for having the most amount of RAM on this motherboard is.
I've had trouble finding 1 GIG chips. One option would be to buy the 2 GB PC3500 from OCSystems: http://www.ocsystem.com/2gbpc43.html
I've had no experience with their RAM however, and stability is definitely a must.
I also wanted to know if there would be any performance hits if I got three PC3500 CORSAIR 512MB XMS Extreme Platimum series chips. I read somewhere that the two yellow colored RAM slots read at a faster rate than the blue colored memory slot. Can anyone shed some light on this?
