Asus K8N-E s754 - raid array is seen as seperate disks

Asus K8N-E socket 754, nForce 3 chipset. Latest BIOS.

Made the RAID driver disk as per the enclosed CD, enabled the RAID controller for both primary IDE channels, created the RAID mirror and rebooted. OS now doesn't see the two disks at POST, but the RAID screen spots them and advises that the array is there and it's healthy.

Boot into XP CD, F6 the driver floppy in and - XP sees the two disks instead of the array.

I've done this plenty of times with other systems - but I've never seen this happen.

Also, if I install the nForce3 IDE SW driver, XP just keeps going round in a reboot and I have to go to "last known good" instead. Something funny going on here...

Thanks in advance for any ideas..

mm i have this board, but I have yet to install it as I am waiting for delivery of my video card.

Argh !!

Where were you yesterday ? 😉

Yep, I just this minute found that out and came here to post the solution. Thanks all the same 🙂

In the meantime, any ideas on the looping reboot nForce IDE SW driver thing?

Cheers

I did. Just wondered if anyone knew the fix. Thanks anyway, works fine as-is.

In fact, now I think of it, I'll actually be using the raid controller drivers rather than the IDE driver for all PATA disks, so it's no longer a problem.
