asus k8n boot problem

Just got an ASUS K8N and a retail Athlon 64 3000. Installed with Kingston PC3200 HyperX memory and when I hit the power button the CPU fan spins and then everything powers off. I have tried a single stick of Crucial DDR 400 and two different AGP cards and same thing happens. Any ideas?

yeah, i just did the same thing with my new build. this was the first motherboard i used that required both the big 20pin and the 4pin power.

does trying to boot on just the 20 pin hurt the motherboard?
