Oh dang, I get my pay check on Tuesday...I am getting this for sure...

Anyone know when the promo code stops working?

I should NEVER have found this thread. I got the shakes man! I was all set to wait for August for the release of the 4870x2 in the hopes the price wars would continue to rage in my favor for a new system. But this looks so tempting:

asus 4850+ asus p45 mobo deal = $337.82 - $ 30 MIR
asus 4850 with coupon code VGA7420 = $187.68 - $ 30 MIR
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Crossfire Combo Total = $525.5 - 60 MIR = $465.50 (*Note on pricing, I live in CA so I have to pay taxes 🙁)

Can anyone talk me down? I know MIRs can be tricky (recently got burned by Sprint on one) but that looks like a phenomenal deal.

If you order the combo and another 4850 they take an additional $10 for the 2 4850's. doesnt look like you factored that into your price.

Also if you use the MS cashback deal you will get an additional 2.8% off the total. I saved $5 and change on just one card doing the MS deal. well worth the price IMO.

Problem with the 2x cards with the mobo combo for 10 bucks off is that you can't apply the $20 off code. With my deal you need 2 separate orders to get the $30 off combo offer (1st line) then a second order with the code "VGA7420" to get $20 dollars off the card (2nd line.) $40 dollar savings vs. $30 with the mobo combo deal + bulk order discount.

But how are you getting the MS discount thing at Newegg? I thought that was an Ebay thing.

Deal may be dead, but you may also be able to buy one on Ebay with the MS 25% cash back deal; could possibly get it cheaper!

I got 1 from the deal I posted a few weeks ago. I have been running it for a week and this card kicks butt. I max everything on COD4 max AA and AF and still easily get 80-120 fps. I run 2-3 720p videos at the same time, some on 4-10x speed for review with no hiccups.

My only complaint about the card is that it gets hot, but in my Xaser III case not too bad, around 60-65C under load. The problem is that to keep it that cool you have to run the fan at max rpm which = NOISY AS HELL. I have a window AC running so it's not that bad but by wintertime, I have to get an aftermarket cooler. At 60% rpm and below the fan isn't too bad. It's when it hits 80%-100% it's really buzzing. With the ASUS autothrottle the fan generally doesn't hit 100% rpm until I am running an intense game for a while. Under normal web/app usage the fan is silent. (Mine is set to go 60% below 60C, 80% at 60C+, then 100% at 65C+)

I want to crossfire this on the P5Q but honestly, I don't have a game that really seems to need it yet. Crysis is the only game I have (COD4, AOC, Mass Effect, VT3) where I get less then 60fps and benchmarks show that crossfire doesn't help Crysis.
