The update went well. Poweramp now works great. And i love the scroll bar to the right of the browser.
 
Just received mine (16gb) today from TigerDirect. Bought the crappy bundle with the screen cleaner and hdmi cable but it beats paying tax. Was able to snag one using the nowinstock site. Thanks to everyone that's been reccomending that site, worked like a charm!

I checked for the OTA update for Honeycomb 3.1 and it says no updates available. I'm in the US, anyone else experiencing this? My first tablet and Android OS device. Can't wait to play around with it after it's done charging.
 
Hmmm. For some reason, my dock no longer seems to be taking a charge.

When I charge my tablet (docked), it'll charge to 100%. Then, I'll use it for a while, and shut it off at say, 85%. A day or two later, the tablet will be down to 40% battery or so. At no point do I see the charging indicator while the tablet is docked but unplugged (I used to when I first got it).

So, I tried plugging just the dock in for a few hours - same thing. It seems to be draining my tablet battery rather than charging itself and then charging the tablet. Any ideas?

I didnt wait for the ota. I got it from xda and did it myself.
 
3.1 went OTA tonight for my Transformer - I got it about 2 hours ago.

As a converted iPad user I want to know how long it will take me before I stop running my fingers over the bezel looking for the home button.

I finally received the OTA notification last night and was able to perform the upgrade.

For all you tablet owners, will I have buyers remorse for not purchasing the 32MB version?
I just ordered a class 10 32mb SDHC card. Can you install apps and run it from your memory card?

So far from my limited experience with the Transformer. I like the build quality and snappiness of the Honeycomb OS. Only negatives so far is I have slight light bleed on the bottom of the screen and it's not really noticeable unless it's booting up. The sound quality also seems quite mediocre.

Can't wait for some more accessories to come out.
 
Snagged a dock finally from newegg. I had ordered one from Cost Central earlier, but I don't believe they ever had as many as they said in stock. nowinstock alert went off for newegg, so I just jumped on it. Can't wait to try the dock out.

I don't have any remorse for not getting the 32gb. I will never put any music on my tablet, I keep it all on my phone and PC. So really all I need the memory for is apps, which 16gb should be more than enough for. I already have a bunch of apps, and I've only used like 1 gig of space.
 
My wife linked me the samsung chromebook thinking it was cool. I pointed out that it really wasn't for the price. I owe her a new laptop, but really she only needs something to browse the web and post on farcebook. So I showed her the transformer + dock...

Needless to say, it was the PERFECT way to get "permission" to spend the money on one.

Before you all go off on it being even more inferior than a chromebook - she's familiar with Android, the apps, and the tools for it. An Android tablet/convertible is perfect for her, even if it is overpriced for a "laptop".

Yes, you will have big time buyers remorse for only buying the 32MB version. 8 songs will fill it up. You want at least the 16GB version. <grins, ducks and runs>

More seriously, I bought 16 gigs and I've never even once thought about it. You can add SD cards in... that's better in my opinion.

Yes, the sound sucks. I dont know where the SRS shit is but its meh at best. I had to download EQ and leave all the sliders at the highest setting just so I can get decent volume. BTW, the 3.1 update fixed my Poweramp problem (FC) and now at least I can use poweramps excellent 10 band GEQ and pre-amp for my mp3s.
 
I picked up the asus sleeve for mine. I wanted minimum bulk and just basic protection from bumps and scratches and this sleeve is great for that. It is quite pricey at $40 though. Another problem is that with the sleeve on you will not be able to dock it with the kb dock. This doesn't affect me because I don't plan on getting the dock but it would be great if they made an opening for the charging connector so I can charge it while the sleeve is closed.

One question. Do any of the multimedia apps have direct control of the volume? I have mine dash mounted in my car and it's a PITA to reach for the volume buttons all the time.
 
Mine showed up today, ordered it on monday from newegg. So far it seems pretty nice (especially compared to my old nook color), but I am going to wait to play with it until the battery is fully charged and I get the 3.1 update applied.

Anyone know if there are plans to make an otterbox defender case for these?
 
Had some friends who came over and looked at my Transformer and scoffed at the fact it wasn't an IPAD... I really don't understand people who are so obnoxious into everything Apple. At least in the circle of friends/acquaintances I am around, it seems almost cult like where they have to buy everything Apple whether it's an iphone, macbook, ipad, appletv, etc.... I just don't get it. Maybe it's because I'm the only techie in the group. But I feel like these newer generation users feel like their so tech saavy because they own all these apple products. These are the same friends I had to help "install" ram in their PC's not too long ago.

edit: To stay on topic...I am loving my Transformer after finally having some time to play with it. I just sold my ASUS netbook after buying this tablet and have not regretted losing a keyboard and Windows. I do miss being able to easily network to my desktop and access files and play videos however.

I buy alot of ASUS products and their tech support has been spotty in the past for other products. I hope the build quality will make the transformer last a while.

If I buy PowerAmp, will that provide EQ support for the entire device for all apps? I need a way to improve the sound or at least make the volume go higher than the default max.

supercurio (Voodoo Sound guy for the Galaxy S) is working on some sound hacks for the Transformer. Wait for that.

my IT consultant/nerd friend is like that. always has to have his apple toys...but he half asses the setup and just likes to bitch when i dont use apple. im still not sure why he has a windows home server box set up, or why it has ZERO media on it (which is all on the macbook). he also has an android phone (no att here and he got a phone before verizon had iphones). he gets very little interoperability out of all his stuff, even with his shiny new apple tv

i think tablets will *really* be where i want them in about a year or so. i want a transformer...but id have to sell my laptop to get it, and i know ill want what the laptop can do at some point, so im waiting on a nook color as an affordable foray into the tablet world, since i love my phone so much anyway.

On the flipside, I have a bunch of friends who really don't care what Apple makes, they hate it. They don't want to see it. They don't care about it. It's dead to them. In fact one said "you should hate them too" to which I replied "why exactly?"

I have an iPad. I have a Transformer. They are both cool. If I had to only keep one, I'd get rid of the iPad - the Transformer is better for what I want to do - but that doesn't make the iPad crap... it's just not as good. I will say that Android apps are still a ways behind Apple... there's less choice and what there is, isn't as good. But for the rest, Android rocks.

yeah, i dont hate apple really...i just dont really care for having their products. i get windows for free, windows does what i need and want, and android works great with what i want to work with on windows via my phone.

i have to say...if you gave me an apple product id sell it and buy something i really wanted. its not going to get along with what i have at home, so owning their products would just annoy me because the huge convenience factor i have with what i use would not be there. i only get that a little with android, and usually with enough poking around i can find what i want and get it working.

Cheers! Tried the iOS free version, worked without a hitch! Took literally 20 seconds to setup and connect. Everything worked great and smooth. It's not perfectly smooth, but soooo much faster than VNC. I watched several clips on youtube, launched a movie too - all full screen and perfectly watchable on my iPhone. Controls work great too.

Man... It's so hard to not pull the trigger on a Transformer now 🙁 Have... to... be... strong...

EDIT: I'm wondering though... Crazy idea, but still... Start a VM on your PC and connect your device to the VM... The host would be still perfectly usable... :hmm:
