Asus EAH3870X2

got an odd issue, I have a customer with that Asus EAH3870X2 TOP/G/3DHTI/1G
which says that it can go to 2560 x 1600 but on the monitor that its connected to which is a Samsung Syncmaster 305t
but it will not go to that resolution. It maxes out at 1900x1600

I have tried all that i can think off, removed drivers. re-installed latest drivers.
Had tried both the latest ones from asus and then the latest ones from ati and the same

I have even tried a new fresh install of Vista.

any ideas?

I had a similar problem with XP and 19" CRT resolution with MSi 3870X2... So i had to make a custom resolution!!

apparently 2560x1600 can only work with CS, not completely sure at all... just see that rumor in other posts

To begin with, first thing to check is that 2560x1600 requires dual link dvi.

Yeah sorry forgot to mention it is connected with a dual link dvi cable

Had a quick look on that samsung site & there is a list of compatibile graphics cards on there which doesn't include the 3870x2.
Although the 1's which are listed are all last gen so that may simply mean they haven't updated the list...
