Good morning,
Recently I just bought an Asus DVD-ROM drive E-616 w/ V2.0 ROM.
It's seems like I having problem to play my Starwars The Phantom Menace Disc 2 (Capacity Apox. 7.9GB) on the drive. The disc no problem at all.
I am using the PowerDVD XP 4.0 to play it, but the error message always pop out.

I do try to browse to the DVD content & I find out that all files under the Video_TS folder consist "zero" bytes.

I have no problem to playing the second disc on other DVD player or even DVD drive.

It's was same problem happened to AsusDVD software player which is bundled with the drive. The player can't recognise but cannot play the disc.

After I trying with InterActual V2.02 it also same the player ask me to insert the DVD disc even though I already put in the disc.

Is it related with the DVD ROM Version problem? If yes, please quickly send a solution.

Fyi: I do change the drive twice with the dealer but the problem still exist then I believe it's the drive problem not the DVD disc either.
I do having same problem with Crouching Tiger & hidden dragon DVD disc also.

Thanks
Please kindly reply mail & better still give me the solution asap.

Is this a genuine Region 3 disc, or a "Petaling St/Pasar Malam" disc?

Cool it. I only seek information.

Currently, there is only 1 firmware available for the E616 drive: version 1.00

Are you certain that your drive AND software are set to Region 1?

Use Drive Region Info to determine what Region your drive is set to. If you need to reset the Region, email me.

You also need to use DVD Genie to determine which Region your PowerDVD XP software is set to.

All those funny softwares I also use to troubleshoot for this issue.
But seems like none of them work.

Err......DVD region Info it just shows that my drive is region locked capable, but I haven't set it to any region except the player to region 1 only.

DVD genie shows me that it can't detect any DVD disc even though I already put the DVD disc inside the drive.

That's what I am found.

May the problem is due to the drive can't recognise the disc size....what ever.

What OS are you using? Have you fiddled around with the ASPI layer?

Make sure that you are using the latest version of Drive Info and DVD Genie.

DVD Genie has nothing to do with checking your DVD Discs. On the tab for PowerDVD, is Region 1 selected?

WindowsXP Professional latest updated.
ASPI? : ) haha... I do try it something like ForceASPI.
Hahhh........what a crap.

All those third party softwares are the latest version.

I do try to use the NeroBurn ROM to copy the entire DVD-ROM into *nrg image....but....you knew it already. It won't work!

I think the best way to work it out is get DVD flash & make it work.

You have any idea how to contact the Asus technical person directly? I did send a mail to them, but there is no reply at all.

May I know your e-mail address? So that I can send my information to you.

Thank you.

Email address is in my profile.

You have probably caused more problems for yourself by doing the ForceASPI.

You can't burn the image in Nero because the DVD is encrypted.
