My only question is why combine the two?
They make it sound like the new lga 2011 cpus are not as capable of overclocking as the lga 1366.

Why not make a dual socket lga 2011 mobo?
I guess this announcement also tells us that 2011 cpus are dual socket capable, unless of course this board is designed for 2011 Xenons.

But ofcourse only 1366 Xenons are capable of sitting in a dual socket mobo ex: EVGA SR-2.

So in terms of marketing this board is odd because only a small percent of the enthusiest market runs Xenons and may not care about how easy it is to merge from one generation to the other. 😕

They just glued two motherboards together. What do these things even share other than a 24pin connector? They have seperate SATA and ram slots. Might as well just buy a new motherboard.

Unless... can you actually run both CPUs at the same time? No way.

Edit: right, like you said, Intel gimped desktop Westmeres so that they can't be used in multisocket systems so... whats the point? Will it even work with Xeons though?

I'd like to see AMD push 4x4 again though, except make it 8x8 this time. It's at least reasonable to buy two $200-$300 CPUs and use them together, instead of 2 $1000 CPUs that can only be used separately.

I was excited for a second thinking this was a dual lga2011 socket motherboard. Then I read what it actually was and thought that this is the biggest joke on the internet right now.
 
When I first saw the picture I thought it would be something like the EVGA SR-2. As I read on just to realize its a C-C-COMBO FAIL!!
 
Man...I was thinking SR-2 for S2011. Would have made sense though since some of the EVGA team went to Asus.

As for this motherboard, I am with Daimon and the rest on asking why?
 
So... it's for people who want to build workstations now but can't work it into their budget to get new mainboards when socket 2011 comes out? How bizarre.

Maybe this would make more sense if the only information weren't the almost-Engrish on that cardboard thing over the expansion slots.
 
My apologies for the thread title. It is a tease, but this board is too.

I heard Shimano is working at Asus now. (Helped develop the EVGA SR-2)
I wonder if he had anything to do with this board, but I tend to give him alot more credit because even he would realize that this is a stupid idea.
