What's the fastest processor I can put in an Asus CUSL2?
I think the manual says it tops out at P3 1.0GHz.
A guy is telling me he runs a P3 1.3something on his.

Thanks

The adapter/processor will cost ~$100. Spend the same $100 for a Shuttle An35N and a 1.6 Duron. You will need some memory, but it will be a much faster system. Don't spend $$ on that old MB. R

I want to keep costs down to an absolute minimum.
I was laid off.

I saw a P3 600 or 800 FPGA with a 100MHz FSB for $20 or $30 somewhere online the other day.
I've noticed AMD prices coming way down.
With new releases from Intel just around the corner, I was hoping I could max out the CPU on this MOBO for under $100.
I was hoping to find the max for this MOBO with a 133MHz FSB.
I have 133MHz memory.
I currently have a P3 500 FPGA with a 100MHZ FSB.

I have progs that need at least 800MHz.
My vid card is only a TNT64MB.

Thanks for the help.

I had a great CUSL baseboard and with good RAM and cooling, I could run a 1.0GHz PIII all day long at 1.2. Bumped up the volts a bit and it was very stable. Felt great to run a 20% O/C, but you know, I couldn't really tell it day to day unless I ran a benchmark. You didn't say what you want to use the machine to do. Email, internet and job searching will all work fine on a 500MHz machine. Gaming is screwed unless you buy a fast processor, RAM and Video card. Good luck!

It has served me well.
I want to play a few games.
I've noticed many require an 800MHz processor.
My vid card may get me by for a while.
I thought a processor upgrade could be had very cheaply since this is so far back in the processor family tree. I thought i may be able to snap up a decent vid card in the next few months with all the new ones coming out. If I find a job I'll buy a kick a__ laptop or build a better desktop.

Thanks
