Asus CUSL2 Poor Memory Performance

I have the asus cusl2 and am running under windows 2k. I get poor memory performance when i go past 133FSB. It is currently set at 143 so i can run my 700cbo at 1ghz. Everything is rock stable except the memory performance sux according to sisoft sandra. I know this is a known bug for high fsb on the asus after reading posts at cusl2.com. Anyone know of a fix for this under win2k? thx

The memory performance goes down after you pass the 140fsb mark. Mine went from 417/490 at 140fsb to 391/450 at 143fsb. After doing a few changes using wpcredit to test and later wpcrset to make the changes permanent my scores now are 428/503 at 143fsb.

Here's a little snippet from the thread where a read about it way back in October. I have more of the thread saved on my hard drive.

<< Anyway I did a screen dump of WPCREDIT at both 140 FSB and 141 FSB, then opened both images and compared the hex value for each offset.

5 offsets had different values, 3 of which were the ones that relate to AGP X4 being forced to X2.
The other 2 offsets that changed were 50 and 73.

offset 50
Bit 3 (DRAM page close policy) changed from '0' (one bank) to '1' (all banks). This is an option in the BIOS but at 141FSB it would appear to override it and force a setting of 'all banks'. I set it back to 0 (one bank) and my sandra score went up to 402/463. As shown above, I was getting 390/446 before this change.

offset 73
Bits 5 and 4, MEM write throttle. This was changing from '10' =400mb/s to '00' =800mb/s.
So I changed this back to '10' and my sandra MEM scores went up again, 416/489.

These tweaks puts my MEM scores back on track with the scores I was getting pre 141 FSB. Ran 3Dmark2000 again and got 7513, up from 7398 at the same FSB before the tweaks.

Here is a little extra.

How do you keep the settings?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You need the companion program called WPCRSET. (get it at the same place http://www.h-oda.com/ )

After it's installed, run it and click the 'add' button. Put in the register number (73) then underneath put the value in the data field (A8). Repeat this step for the other changes you want to make. Then click the START box and reboot and forget all about it. You now have the tweaks applied automatically on startup.
