Have you installed the latest inf and ATA drivers for your CUSL2?

how about some numbers?
mine are about 325/370
my 6309 was about 360/430 with the same ram.
i actually turned on SPD in the bios and it was faster. go figure.

my ram is 133 3-3-3

I'm getting around 345 and 340 for my scores--that's at 133 FSB, 2-2-2 for Ram timing (I'm pretty sure). It seems a little slow. I'll mess around with the settings when I get home tonight.

Oh no, not a new and improved board with memory scores slower than a bx again. I just can't take it anymore! :(

342/387 for me with a lowly 112 MHz bus (BX), but memory is 2-2-2-8.

Zipperhead, are you running Cas 3 or Cas 2?

Soupcan, are you on a VIA board?

This is off thread but I would need help from ANDY.

Andy,

Just got the CUSL2 and I think I am missing something in the set up.

Problem:

Nice green light and nothing else. No fans powered etc.. its asleep and I cannot wake it up (smelling salts needed).

Config:

CUSL2 Rev 1.02 Bios unknow cannot see it since no screen
P3-700 SL45Y
G/orb with artic silver paste
Micron CAS3 PC-133
IBM ATA-100 30 gig 75GXP
SB Live in Slot 2
3C905 in #4
Com 2 Connected
Extra USB connected (both cables)
Hercules TNT2 Ultra in AGP (works) Will be Upgrading Soon)

All in a In-Win S500 with a 300w Powerman PS

All jumpers as they where when I got them.

The questions I have are:

The wake up on KEYB (KBPWR) and USB (4 SETS)(WR01,02,47,56) jumpers do they all have to be set to <disable>? Mine came with KBPWR and USB..024756 set as <ENABLE> and USBPWR01 as disable.

Any help is appreciated

Ack, just when I was ready to finally take the plunge by ordering a cusl2 rather than a BX based mobo, I run across this thread.

I notice now that it's several days old. Have any of you experiencing the poor memory bench scores w/ your cusl2's been able to figure out what's going on?

Back to the drawing board, perhaps...sigh.

According to a post in the asus newsgroup, it is mentioned that the german mcomputer magazine ct are claiming that if the memory timing is set by spd, and the cycle chosen is 7T / 9T, the mobo will default to using 3-3-3 settings, and if the cycle is 5T / 7T it will default to 2-2-2 or it will hang if the highly oc'ed.
I haven't tried to test this claim out yet, but if you look around in the asus newsgroup you should be able to find it.

ack! Ignore my prior message--I have to learn to read.

Anyway, I reported my memory scores under Sandra 99, not Sandra 2000. For whatever reason (and if anyone could explain the difference I would appreciate it) my scores are significantly better. :)

Memory scores: 379/430 (roughly) at 133fsb, 600E at 800mhz, 2-2-2 timing (Crucial/Micron memory)

I apologize for any confusion, and I hope this is helpful. btw, this board is rock solid stable. I can't wait to try for a higher fsb once I get a better hsf. Cheers.

With my dud of a 700 sitting unhappily at 805 (115 FSB), scores are 311/355. At 868 (124 FSB), scores are 335/381.

I tried 1 x Crucial 128MB PC133, CAS-2 set at "User defined" 2-2-2 and at 7T/9T. Changing from 7T/9T to 5T/7T showed hardly any benefit (1 increase in ALU, and 2 increase in FPU), but the whole system seems a little more stable at the 7T/9T setting for me.

Cusl2 650@866 and mem benchmark in ssandra 400/470 very nice!
Board is rock solid but will crash if mem timing is too fast at high clocks, spd seems the way to go, I think I can retain 2-2-2 7/9T at around 140mhz with 128mb cas2 crucial.
Will go to 975 but haven't tested the stability of this speed.

specs-
p3 650 @866
Cusl2
Crucial 128mb cas2
IMB gxp75 15gig
CL GTS2
crappy s3 audio

Using 128m of Mushkin rev2

No problems so far. Everything stable.
Can't imagine why other people are experiencing low scores.
I haven't updated the bios since I've gotten the board.

Hi all

after playing around with the bios it didn't take long to figure the following
650@910 140mhz fsb 2-2-2 7/9T mem bandwidth 420/480ish
at 141 spd takes timing to 3-3-3
Result? mem bandwith 305/340

The question is if one of the ram timings goes from 2 to 3 you lose approx 30mb/s bandwith with each increase in mhz gives an increase of approx 2mb/s and 3mb/s for the respective mem bandwidth scores so in other words you have to over clock the fsb around 10mhz to make up for a change from a ram timing of 2 to 3 and if you go from 2-2-2 to 3-3-3 then you may have to go for an extra 30mhz to get the mem bandwidth back. Of course all this is guess work but have a look at toms for the cusl2 at 166mhz fsb, the crappy ram timing at 166 basically reduces any benefit to negible margins.

It would have been better to compare 166fsb to the highest fsb achievable with 2-2-2 settings rather than 133

Anyhow soz for the long rant but its probably worth seeing that for one single of fsb you can lose a damm load of bandwidth.

If all this sounds like complete bolloxs thats cos its what i have deduced from a little playing around, hence don't take it as gospel
