get this error message when trying to Flash from 1.0 firmware to 1.34 firmware..Anyone know why this is like this?

"The supplied user buffer is not valid for the requested operation."

I tryed going up to 1.2 firmware first, but same message.

I would like to use 1.3 cause fixes some stuff.

Any suggestions?

I have a DVD player on same IDE channel..perhaps it needs to be unhooked before I try to flash CDRW? I never heard of that..but maybe...

Driving me nuts! :)

Well I have the same problem on my new Asus 5224 and after a quick Google search, seems that this is a problem under WinXP systems. Unfortunately not sure of the work around outside of taking the drive to an older WIn9x system. Hopefully Asus will give us a fix to this already. At least for me, I'm glad to know that my drive isn't bunko, just a bad flashing proggie.

After learning that this firmware update problem seems limited to Win NT based systems, I decided to play and accomplished a work-around. If you want to use the Asus firmware updater program, simply right click on the downloaded file, run it in Windows 95 compatibility mode and vioja - the firmware updater works without a problem. Note, if you don't have an ASPI layer installed, however, you'll need to download one since the Win95 compatibility mode requires it to access the CD-RW drive.

Hope this helps....
