ASUS Capture Drivers

Has anybody sucessfully gotten these to work? I'm trying to capture TV on my V6800 using a Windows Media encoder. Every time I try to use them, my system (win2k) immediately reboots. I've tried several versions of the drivers, too.

I want to watch TV on a computer over the network that doesn't have TV access.

Yeah, they work for me with a 6600 in Win2K. Try a program like VirtualDub (can't remember the homepage) or Asus' VCR program (available on their FTP).

Another issue is performance. I've tried capturing from at 3XX*2XX up to 640*480 and can't do it without dropping frames, regardless of the compression I use.

Hi JeSpre,

Thanks for the advice

I thought the V6600 didn't have video in? What are you using the capture for? I wonder if it's the actual Windows Media Encoder that doesn't like to capture video. Audio capture works fine.

I've got a V6600 Deluxe, it's the same thing a V6800 Deluxe minus the DDR memory. I've never used WM Encoder, Virtual Dub is widely regarded as one of the best capture programs.

You did dowload the latest version of ASUS Live, didn't you? That's where the latest capture drivers are, I don't think they integrate them with the video drivers anymore.

Whoops, sorry about that... I was confusing the V6600/6800 with Pure/Deluxe.

I'll have to look for that VirtualDub program, but I still need to find something that will let me broadcast video/audio at 100-700K/s rates.
