hey guys, i wanna move to a laptop and was looking @ Asus barebones.. What do you guys think about M3NP? anybody owns one around here?

OR the Z91N's ? which one is better? pro/cons?

I will be using this laptop/s for university stuff and web browsing etc...

also can these can take 5-8 hrs of daily usage(plugged or un-plugged).

About the new Dothans, how is 1.6Ghz compared to a regular P4 or AMD processor?

any good online stores with nice price on these barebones? Newegg stopped selling them 🙁

many thanks 😀

I've an M3Np. Pre-assembled, though. I'm happy with it. Can do 4hrs+ with a Celeron, probably longer with a Pentium M. You can put an extra battery in the drive slot, it you get an external. I'm happy with mine, wieght and looks and keyboard. The two-way switch they give you instead of a scroll button is ok, but doesn't seem to work for some progrms, most notably Adobe Reader. Gotta use the side-scroll for that. Biggest complaint with it is tiny, but can be annoying: No volume control. Gotta boot up to do that from inside OS.

i just got an m3np and i love it. make sure you get the sxga screen, which is hard to find. I threw in a super G wireless mini pci card, 2.0 centrino, 1gb of ram, and the hitachi 60gb 7200rpm. Its been rock solid in performance and stability.

i agree with Kibbo, it doesnt have a physical volume button/knob. thats annoying.

btw, staples ingram micro sells it barebones. you can buy it from there, PM it and also apply a coupon for the best deal. (although i can't tell if their barebones comes with a sxga screen)
