Asus AS9250 w/ TV out

So this is old hat. I just bought as Asus AS9250 video card to replace my Kyro II (Day of Defeat wasn't running as sharply as I'd liked), and am having issues with the TV out. It will display to both the TV and monitor simultaneously, but there is a monitor-generated error message that says something to the effect of the resolution being out of sync, and to change it to 1024x768 at 60 Hz. My monitor is running at those settings, and the TV is an old 640x480 deal. Then the monitor goes to sleep, while the TV keeps going. Anyone had this issue, perhaps several years ago?
