Asus AC68U Diying already?

So... Playing League of Legends tonight, it started to become incredibly unbearable. While my ping was staying rock solid at 68-69ms, the games were incredibly laggy. Running speed test my Download speed would only acheive this.

1-6mbps d/l (at times as low as 0.20) and 4mbps u/l

Eventually I found out cutting out the router fixed my problem, running straight to the PC. I then get my normal speeds of 110dl/4ul.

I've tried every setting in the router, I've even factory reset it to no avail. Just got done changing out cords, still, same issue.

My pings however are great. It makes no sense.

My wireless speeds are equally as attrocious even with AC, and direct sight.

Cliffs: Can't get more than 4mbps dl on a 110mbps dl connection when connecting through AC68U, but Ping is rock solid and low as normal.

Tried merlin, problem persisted.
Wired, and wireless both have the same issue.
Turned off both QoS, and DoS

I assume you are connected from router to modem by CAT5 cable and not USB?
Do you have download master downloading in the background on the router?

Seems like you checked everything, time for RMA/exchange.

Can you Telnet into the router and issue the following command after logging in:

nvram get bl_version

I know that Asus has been messing with locking down the routers because of FCC pushing them (as well as a Netgear lawsuit) and their stuff has been going downhill since.

Also, have you tried the Merlin fork version of the firmware (need full NVRAM reset for this - unplug router, press AND HOLD the WPS button, plug router back in while holding WPS button for 15-20 seconds).

Merlin fork (older driver that just runs better, IMO): http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=18914

I really think the latest "unified" Asus firmware's are borked right now, from reading around on SmallNetBuilder for the last couple of months. I've had great luck on the Merlin fork on my converted AC68U. Not sure if it works with the AC87 though.

Edit: No, the fork won't work on the AC87.

Just tried connecting directly to the PC again, from modem. Problem was still there this time, not sure how I was able to get it to work for 2-3 hours connecting straight to PC from modem last night.

Called charter, and they said my downstream signal is way out of spec, and a tech will be out tomorrow to inspect the line.
