I've heard a variety of things of where to connect my SATA drives on my new ASUS A8V. People say don't use the VIA because people have found with heavy overclocking, it fragments the drives and eventually destroys them, other say don't do promise cause the performance sucks.
Ive got two brand new Seagate Barracuda 160gig SATA drives come and I will not be doing RAID, they will be standalone drives. I do plan on pushing the system decently but not to the extremes for overclocking. Im dissapointed that the VIA has to share the PCI bus with the SATA and the Gigabit ethernet, but im not trustworthy of MSI or Epox for an Nforce 3 board, so I went with the ASUS instead.
What have you guys found will be the most stabile and fastest? Also, should I grab the newest VIA drivers for my new machine or just use the ones on the CD? Iv'e been away from the VIA world since getting an Intel setup last year.
