ASUS A8V problems

I got my a8 up and running with my 3500+, 2g patriot ram, 36g raptor because of the great support on this and the via forum. Iwas able to install the via driver as recommended to run just one hd right now. Computer seems ok until I try to install my Matrox G550 drivers and software...these are new out of the box. The computer crashes immediately and will not run until I uninstall the software.
any suggestions?
