asus a8v problem

my friend just built a computer but when it gets past post but when windows begins to load an errror comes up and then the computer has to be restarted. He is using an western digital hd and asus a8v deluxe and for some reason it doesnt detect his other cd driver
anyone no why? ::::FIXED:::::
 
?bad CPU cashe[/], bad MB, corrupt Cmos, dirty windows?
also including the HD as a possibilty as you stated... The other problem with the cd recognition,
makes a good case for the motherboard as the culprit.:thumbsup:
