Asus A8V - no ability to manually set voltages and multiplier?

I recently decided to try overclocking my Asus A8V and Winchester 3200+, 1GB Corsair TwinX.

However, I cannot seem to find the full set of manual overclocking options. According to reviews of the board:

These reviews indicate I should have a field called "CPU Speed/Voltage Setting", and CPU Voltage / multiplier subfields should appear when you set it to manual, but that is not the case either with the stock BIOS that shipped with the board, or the latest BIOS (Revision 11). All I see is the CPU FSB Frequency field, and the DDR / AGP / V-link voltage fields.

Is there something special I have to do to enable this option? Is it only available for FX processors? Was it removed in later BIOS revisions? Hopefully, someone can help me here.

there is one other thing in there, its called voltages and multipliers. set it to manual. dont use 1011 bios. flash to 1009. 1011 has some memory issues.

it definatly has those functions 🙂.. too bad I dont remember..

I was able to get 2.4ghz with 3000 winnie.

now working on 2.7ghz with 3200 Newcastle on 754 🙂 (waiting for a better mobo..)

Ahh, I figured it out!

You cannot change the voltage or multiplier manually when Cool 'N Quiet is enabled. The settings aren't there.

Hmmm, makes sense now that I think about it. Guess I'll just have to see if the extra heat generated by both overclocking and turing off CNQ is worth it 😀
