i was a happy asus customer for years, my last dual cpu board lasted 7 yrs.
recently i bought a8v-e se and on boot or reset the damn thing clicks once, twice or trice (i don't see any pattern) and the hdd light flashes. these are not beeps, these are clearly clicks.

after a succesful boot the rigs works fine for days, but there are several occasions it won't even boot, just black screen and the power light on... weird, and then immediately the power button does not help, only reset button helps.

now, my psu is enermax noisetaker 420w with 24 pin plug, in could provide more juice than i currently use, that's certain.

all parts are brand new. vga card is asus en6600, memory is infineon bt-5 2x1gb. no temperature problems at all. the case is TAC certified and it keeps it really cool. no overclocking either.

any suggestions? those damn clicks are driving me insane :(

no the clicks come from the speaker, yeah i have had many hdds die on me with clicks in the past, but that's not the case. the funny (or not) thing is that according to asus there is no such phenomenon. i was a loyal asus customer, but i am not anymore, yeah btw their vga "enhanced" drivers are pos, i used to get bsods all the time... asus wake up...
