is this ok to do? I see that there is only one more ribbon cable left and its marked HDD, can I use this for a floppy? Also there is an empty slot that would plug into a new ribbon cable, could I just plug any cable into that and plug in the floppy? The cable that plugs into the CD drives doesnt have a thing that says floppy!

I don't think a 1.44 floppy cable will even plug into a HDD socket. If it even would let you, then no, don't, use the socket clearly marked FLOPPY.

Ok looking closer, it seems that that board has some funky IDE ports. Check the existing HDD cables and verify they are indeed in ports labeled HDD.

Im thinking the red on the far side of the board by itself should be the floppy drive? I don't know really!

nope , the red ide connector is promise's. floppy port is the only port twisted 90 degrees facing literaly towards hdds/floppy so its pretty easy to distinguish.

My MB box didn't even come with the floppy cable, although it said it was included. I bought a short round cable (6in Cooler Master??). Given the position of the floppy connector on the board (not good at all), it shouldn't be a long distance to the back of the FDD. A large ribbon cable will be a headache, as the IDE and main power connectors are all in close proximity. FYI...
