ASUS a8v deluxe reboots while playing BF2

Howdy all i got a problem with my cpu rebooting randomly while playing BF2
any ideas what i shuld look into as being the problem , it freezes sometimes also but mostly resarts

umm as far as i know all updates are complete
temp on cpu when it crashes is im guessing 95-101 f on board temp display

i have used it for playing WoW with no problems
i DL the newest ati drivers
just up for kinda a loss on this

it is possible i dont have some of my bios set right as this was a my first home build it has been up and running for about 4 months now , no other problems , well once in a while while on limewire it will geek out graphics wise and ill have to restart

is there a place that will tell me everything cut and dried what to set my setting at as far as bios goes?i have most of it on auto now
 
I'm curious if the temps are the same when you're playing WoW as when you're playing BF2. My thought is maybe you have a faulty heat sensor on your mobo that causes the motherboard to think it's getting too hot at some place on the mobo and to reduce the load it reboots. I would, honestly, have no idea how to even backup a thought like this one (ie: what software to run to check this) but that is a thought. I don't know if you can disable the heat checking on the a8v but you might want to give that a try. (Being as you seem to be aware of how the temp is actually running.)

 
First things first, right-click My Computer, click Properties. Goto Advanced and choose startup and recovery options. Under System Failure, uncheck automatically restart.

That will basically tell your computer not to reboot but to give you a BSOD when there is a software crash. If it's hardware-related (not the config, but temps or possible bad mem/psu) it will shutdown or restart (not as likely). If a BSOD comes up, you have a way to find your problem. Just look up the error code in the M$ knowledge database, and there might be a hotifx or registry edit fix for it. I had the same problem, but had several different messages. STOP, which ended with a hotfix; IRQ_NOT_LESS(or more)_THAN, which means the bios is forcing a IRQ rule that windows doesn't like; and BAD_POOL_HEADER which I believe is basically memory corruption which might have something to do with unverified drivers.

You're in luck... RojakPot has always had a great BIOS guide that's been constantly revised for years. Checking on it now, the structure has been taken out and is now a list of articles on each individual setting. --=>LINK<=--

I am guessing that you are trying to run AGP at x8. It is my experience that the A8V motherboard sucks. Lower the AGP to x4 and it will work. I have always liked the ASUS MBs but this one has been nothing but trouble.

My only Asus mobo is still in the box it came in, so I don't know about the AGP settings. It could very likely be a driver problem. Try installing the newest VIA Hyperion driver set. I don't know if this applys, but back in the AMD k6-2 days you had to install the AGP driver in "turbo" mode (option in driver install) to get 4x instead of 2x

As far as I'm concerned, your mobo is practically new and is about the last series to use AGP. If they couldn't get AGP8x to work by now, they should have been buried long ago.

i have done this and it still is rebooting with out the BSOD, so i asume this means hardware problem

im about to go and reset my AGP settings to 4x , what will i see as in graphic wise will this be a noticable differance/?

once again i would like to ty for your help

just thought i would update , i turn my graphic card setting down to 4X and allis good now.... TY much

but here is a newer question i was on Crucials website and they had a sys scan , so i did it and it says my FSB is at 200?

now im thinking this is just a proram error but is there some sys scan out there that works well ? i would like to post my config and see if it can be tweaked , it was my first build and im not 100% that its running at max potenial..
