Asus A8V-Deluxe problem

ok, so it wouldn't post when i started that, then i found out that my bios was not updated and not compatible w/ my 3400+ socket 939. but what was unusual was that it would have a long continuous beep (not your usual bios beep, it goes on forever) whenever i started it up. then i turned it on without my videocard (6800 GT) and there was no beep. Could it be the power supply's problem? I mean, I have an antec truepower 380, it should be more than enough to power a 6800 GT. or could it be that my videocard is defective?

here are the specs:
athlon 64 3400+ socket 939
1 GB mushkin pc 3200 ram
seagate 160 GB IDE drive
lite-on dvd +/- rw drive
leadtek 6800 GT
antec sonata case w/ antec true380 psu

does anyone else have this problem?

Start from scratch I hate to say, but make sure all components (gfx card, mem, cpu) are properly seated and all power connectors are snug. This a new PSU?

Yes, this is a new PSU. I'm sure the ram and cpu are properly seated, but the case is so small that i have problems putting the gfx card ( i have a big, fat LEADTEK 6800 gt.) in. When i start it up w/out the videocard, it's fine and i hear no long, continuous beep.

Is the HSF on the card interfering (hitting/connecting) with anything on the mobo? or anything adjacent to the card itself?

i think i had the same problem as u.....does the beep sound verrry faint? it used to happen to me the first time i put together my system when i switched the power supply in the back to the "on" position.

Start over pretest it before installing in the case. With the minimum needed. video, memory, cpu.
You wouldn't happen to have hooked up some usb ports from the case? If you did try unhooking it. If beep goes away had it hooked up wrong.
