I am trying to build my new SLI system.
Asus A8N-SLI
2 Gigabyte 6600GT (GV-NX66T128D)
1 GB of Ram (2x512MB)
I am having major problems with SLI. I tought everything was fine yesterday, but the I saw that the SLI tab was not showing up on the nvidia screen. So I went to Gigabyte and they had a new video bios, It said in the notes (Added support for SLI). So I updated the bios one at a time (and yes I flipped the little card from dual to single). The bioses said that thsy updated ok, so I put it back in dual mode and put both cards back in, and the connector.
When I went to boot windows I got a BlueScreen (somthing about IRQ). I figued I forgot to uninstall the drivers, so I did a complete format and reinstall of windows. I then installed the chipset drivers from the CD, rebooted and then installed the video drivers (the ones off nvidia's site) (All of this was done while the bios was set to SLI mode = Auto). On the next boot I got the same blue screen.
I decided to try it in SLI mode = Normal, and it booted to windows but only saw one vid card. I then uninstalled the vid drivers and cleaned them. Then I booted in SLI mode = normal and installed the drivers. Then switched to SLI mode = Auto and it booted to windows, but a few seconds after windows loads it sees the secound video card and windows automatily installs a driver for it and the screen goes black. I think it locks up because if I reboot it trys to install the driver again.
I started over again and installed the driver while in SLI mode = Auto, but I did not reboot right after. I when to Device Manager and saw both cards listed as 6600GT, but one had the yellow icon. In the properties it said Device would not start. I tried to install the drivers trough Have Disk but it locked up. Now it is giving me the blue screen when windows loads!
I have also tried switching the cards, and the Asus beta bios.
I need some help! Does anyone have a clue what I am doing wrong?
Thanks,
Allen
